Both locations were a shining examples of the benefits of a in-house design & build process. For a client with a smaller budget, we were able to design millwork and unique interior features that were 'just the right-level' of difficulty. Unfortunately design and build are often split into two groups that don’t always get along. Designers are looking for details that may seem simple to the eye(ie: recessed baseboards) but are very challenging to execute. Builders always have to keep an eye on the bottom line and respect the intentions of owners.
With an in-house design-build, we were able to push the envelope with a challenging design that played to our strengths in terms of our construction abilities.
We were able to satisfy our client’s wants but were able to immediately identify any potential construction headaches and correctly set expectations. As a result, the end result looked much more polished and unique for the price our client paid.
Yorkville
The first location in Yorkville introduced the use of seafoam green in the brand’s interiors, accentuated by the millwork design of thin, repeating fins. We also designed a magnetic latch door out of veneered rosewood to cover the fridge and vented heat through the existing HVAC unit to dissipate heat. Cement tile backer board was used as a cheap, readily available material to provide an interesting rustic texture.
Bayview Village
The Bayview Village location was the first full sized store for the brand. We developed a curved white oak feature wall that follows the curve of the counter and walkway. The rest of space featured seafood green cladding, white-washed pine and Carrera marble for that perfect Instagram backdrop.
Content Creation
In the competitive field of cold-pressed juice (no joke, it is very competitive), ELXR needed to be an Instagram designation, if not simply for the fact that all the other local juice companies had a big presence. Having to run a business full time, ELXR had us help keep up and pump out gram worthy content that they could post at least every other day.
